In ancient times,
four of the most feared sorcerers
gathered their might and their knowledge
to create the most powerful sorcery.
At this point they can infect their kin.
And spread disease, dread and death.
They became the first plagueprior.
This was truly a revelation. I was getting started with funeral doom, working on something with my headphones on... Then came Déluge... my jaw actually dropped, I stopped what I was doing and, wide-eyed, just listened to the track, baffled and amazed. After the album was over (I never do this), I went to lay down with my headphones to enjoy it over again.
I rarely heard (and felt) this much power and emotion in an album. Until I find something better, this is my landmark for peak funeral doom. fluo
The reason is summarized in the reason why I love extreme doom: it's a matter of focus, intentions that never get diverted from one nature: the appeal for doom, and all emotions, visions, states of being the term implies.. It's a one-colour core that makes the whole. The limits of Arche's music embraces all doom is about; how can I not be very pleased with that? Bertrand Marchal
The Avantgarde Music vinyl edition brought this to my attention; I'm a bit late, but wow.
Lots of genres are spanned here and yet it remains really cohesive. Epic, ghastly, slightly ambient. No need to be a hardcore Tolkien fan or anything either – just dig in and enjoy. Alice M.
